Documents folder appears transparent/grayed out. Files still available but has potential problems

The documents-folder seems to be hidden, it's grayed out/transparent. I still have access to all files, but it's complicated. Especially when trying to attach files in a mail, I always have to move the files to the downloads-folder, so they appear in the search-list. it's just annoying that the old files are translucent while the others are regular blue, so annoying. Went on terminal and script editor and nothing works to make them normal blue folders. Help!!

Troubleshooting Finder GUI:

A. Boot in Safe Mode:

In Safe Mode, Login Items do not run at login, certain preferences are set aside, and damaged system files are then reset. So, once booted in to Safe Mode, wait 30 seconds, and then boot up normally, attempting this once more. For instructions, go here: How to Use safe Mode on your Mac - Apple Support


B. Try a New Admin User:

What happens when you create a new administrator user, and log into it? Do you still get this error? If not, then it is likely an error with the current user. If so, then it is likely an error with your Mac.


No Succes?...

C. Reinstall the macOS:

Go Here: How to Reinstall macOS from macOS Recovery - Apple Support. Important: Be certain to create a backup of your Mac prior to all of this. That way, you can have something to restore from the Mac from, should anything go wrong with the reinstall. Once reinstalled, try this once more.
