For MacBook pros from 2020 and later, can you not add more memory? My computer keeps lagging and I've only had it for three years

I have cleared out many of my downloaded items, exited/deleted apps I wasn't using, reduced the tabs I have open, etc. but even then my memory on my computer is nearly maxed out causing my computer to lag with minimal (3-4) tabs open. With the older computers, I could take out the old memory card and replace it, but for the newer models that isn't the case. Unless there is another way to increase memory, I would greatly appreciate it!

The last MacBook Pro with memory in sockets was released in early 2012. Since 2012 Retina models, every MacBook Pro has the memory soldered down, for maximum reliability. Unfortunately, that also means NOT upgradeable after purchase.

Storage space:

We never seem to have enough storage space. You can add an external drive to get more storage. There are even drives that are compact enough to maintain portability. Example:

or this:

about actual size, 1/4 in thick. Bus powered.
