I didnt realize my iCloud photo library was on my laptop so all my photos are syncing from my phone (iCloud) to my MacBook. I turned off iCloud photos on my MacBook but the photos are still here. How long does it take for them to delete (unsync)?

When iCloud Photos is enabled on your devices, photos and videos are synced across all of your devices. Since you have turned off iCloud Photos on your Mac, this will stop the process. You should be able to delete the photos and videos from your Mac without them deleting from your iPhone.
When you delete photos and videos from your library, they’re placed in the Recently Deleted album, where they remain for the number of days shown, and then are permanently deleted.
