How To Filter The Color Blue With An Apple TV?

I have a First Generation Apple TV 4K Model A1842 (64 GB) TV OS 16.6 (20M73). As you may be aware, studies by Harvard and others have shown adverse health effects of being exposed to blue light emitted by screens. The suggested way to control these adverse health effects is to control the amount of blue light being emitted by screens.

The Apple TV software does have a section entitled Color Filters nested in Accessibility/Display/Color Filters. In the Color Filters section there is a Color Tint option. However, it is not clear if or how the color blue can be filtered using this option. There does not appear to be clear documentation available on this critical color health adjustment.

Please let me know if you know if and how this option can be used to filter the color blue on Apple TV.

Thank you.

Thanks for your reply. I've already read the article you mentioned. While the article mentions color filter information, it doesn't directly address the necessary steps for blue color filtering. I've attempted to follow the information to adjust the blue color and it is not clear what I have actually achieved. Plus, there is no way to simply test or measure the actual filtering accomplished. Apple has a good color calibration app on the iPhone to adjust colors on the Apple TV. This would be a good opportunity for Apple to create a similar app for blue color filtering. According to the Harvard Medical School article I am linking here, this is an issue with serious health implications that should be more thoroughly addressed by Apple for the health of users. Unfortunately, that article didn't actually link to specific studies. However, it did say that blue light at night might cause changes in circadian rhythm which might lead to other issues. Note that the study (not cited) they discussed involved only 10 people. In the end, the article said "If blue light does have adverse health effects...."

There are other studies that indicate that blue light is in fact, beneficial during the day. So, turn off your screens two-three hours before bed.

Hello. I didn't write this forum to debate the health impacts of blue light. I trust that is more appropriate in a medical related forum. For one, my eye doctor has prescribed for me computer glasses that are treated to screen out blue light for the health of my eyes because eye doctors suggest blue light may damage retinas.

So, I think my computer glasses are protecting me in front of my computer. What I originally wrote this forum about was how the Apple TV could help filter out blues for large screen viewing.

It doesn't appear that question is being resolved in this forum. I would suggest that this question be referred to those at Apple that may be more concerned with health issues - especially with Apple TV use. Thank you.

Any display you attached to the Apple TV would be responsible for blue light filtering.

Check your owners manual or contact the display manufacturer.

Also, this is a user to user support forum.

Apple is not here and does not read or respond to any post here.
