This is really a re-posting of this post. I still have massive issues when asking siri on whether the HomePod mini, MacBook and iPhone, to play specific music from my music collection. I have cancelled my apple music subs so i get the not found on apple music dribble from siri too.

the homepod can't access a shared lib from a computer at all
it can access apple music, it can access music you previously purchased in itunes store (it streams it like apple music) and it's support to access music stored on music match
if you wish to play other music on it in your computers lib you will have to airplay it to the homepod

Ts Rudegar, I figured it will only play via airplay an iTunes - if you have selected the HomePod as the speakers. It's a real shame that it doesn't work in the way I felt it was spoken about: such is life. Even theHomePod siri refuses to play my apple music from the iPhone - unless it is connected to apple music. It will play random stuff if it's on the wifi though. Cheers for the info'. 👍🏽🙃
