Business Apple Store

Can someone tell me what are the advantages of using https://ecommerce.apple.com to buy business computers? So we have an account but we never really used it because the prices were never really cheaper than say B&H or https://www.apple.com/store. But from what I understand, you will get better prices the more you buy? If someone could explain to me the benefits, that would be great. Also, if it is the way to buy devices, is there a way to like edit the business information, or add another authorized purchaser? For the life of me, I can't find anywhere to do that. Thanks a lot for any help you can give me!

Purchasing through the e-commerce portal allows you to have the devices automatically added to you Apple Business Manager instance. You should have an Apple Business rep who can assist with adding authorized purchasers. It's not much different than ordering from B&H, CDW, SHI, or IT1, but unlike the resellers who occasionally (or often) miss adding devices to ABM, Apple doesn't miss because it's all automated when using that portal.

You do want to be purchasing through the business team of B&H if you purchase there so the devices get added to your ABM instance.

Businesses come in many different "flavors", so it is not easy to guess which benefits could suit your company:

Eg: You can automatically enrol devices in your mobile device management (MDM) solution without having to physically touch or prepare the devices before users get them.

celliott147,

You really have my attention now. I think I must be getting confusing Apple Business Manager with Apple Business Essentials. What all can I do with ABM without having a ABE subscription? And you were right about it being added right into the account when you buy through Apple's ecommerce store like that. The one I just bought showed up there. (see the attached screenshot) Should I be able to configure the laptop without even turning it on through ABM without having an ABE subscription?

Thanks a lot for your help!

I appreciate it.

I strongly recommend using ABM. Automated device enrollment (ADE) significantly enhances the security of your MDM. It also simplifies deployment and allows for zero-touch enrollment/deployment where the device can be sent from the supplier directly to the user completely sealed. When the user opens it, it fully configures itself based on the setup within your MDM. It can save an IT team many hours (or a ton of money if you use a third party to configure).
