Is it possible to organize my apps in alphabetical order on iPhone?

Coming from an android I am thinking that my iPhone would be smarter, but I can’t find any way to organize all of my apps in alphabetical order. Hopefully somebody has some sort of go around or please don’t tell me I have to do it manually.

You can sort of do this:

1. Open the Settings app and go to General > Reset > Reset Home Screen Layout.

2. All of your downloaded apps will be put in alphabetical order.

3. The built-in apps will return to their original positions on your first screen, so if you want them to be in alphabetical order, you will need to move them manually.

Honestly, I find it better to have apps organized in folders by function, such as Entertainment, Productivity, Apple Apps, etc., but above is the closest you can get to an alphabetical order.

Not by folder. To view apps alphabetically swipe down on the App Library or reset your Home Screen.

  1. Go to Settings  > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone.
  2. Tap Reset, tap Reset Home Screen Layout, then tap Reset Home Screen.

Any folders you created are removed, and apps you downloaded are arranged alphabetically after apps that came with your iPhone.

As you've learned, Apple doesn't have a switch to organize your apps alphabetically on your home screens. But you can as you know see them listed alphabetically in the App Library. Otherwise, you can organize them any way you want on your home screens. I prefer to organize my apps into folders based on type of app. Map apps in a folder called Maps. Music Apps in a folder called Music, etc.

If you want to tell Apple you'd prefer another way to organize your apps use this link, since this is a user to user only forum which Apple doesn't read for user feedback --> Feedback - iPhone - Apple

This seems like the most basic, obvious feature that any phone should have. I really love my iPhone, but its lack of basic, common sense functionality often boggles my mind.

I would love it if anyone knew how I could view and alphabetical app listing where I can easily delete apps.

The only ways that I've found to even view an alphabetical list is in Settings>Apps or by swiping all the way over on the home screen to where the alphabetical list *should* be (where they are automatically sorted into unhelpful or incorrect folders) and clicking search. One should **OBVIOUSLY** be able to interact with the list to delete them and whatnot, but I cannot figure out how to.

I feel that my iPhone is superior to any of my android devices that I've owned, but after using android for so many years, the iPhone lacks a lot of what feels like basic functionality.

Yep, that is the way. For users that want to see apps alphabetically for access or to delete them, they can do that. The expected way is to Organize your Home Screens for your individual purpose. That can be done by using Folders to store common apps or even to organize your frequently used apps on the first Home Screen, so you are not having to navigate multiple Home Screens just to find the app you want.
