Was the scanner working before and is this a new problem? Or is this the first time you are trying to scan from this scanner? Answers will be different depending on the situation.
Neither the computer nor printer are new and both worked perfectly before updates to my Mac OS. Problem solved when I deleted printer & reinstalled.
