Unfortunately, you will have to erase your iPhone in order to reset the passcode for the device. There are no other options.

Your iPad cannot be used to unlock the iPhone.

If you have a current backup of the iPhone, you can use that to restore the data back to the phone after it has been erased and set up again.

It might be a good idea to write down the new passcode that you select for the iPhone......even if you feel that you will never forget it.

Nope.

The passcode is the key to decrypt the data on the iPhone.

The passcode is not stored anywhere.

No passcode, no decryption key, no decryption, no data.

And no backdoor.

Recovering Data After a Reset:

All will be reset to factory settings, once reset. So, restore your iPhone from a backup of the same iOS, or import item from iCloud. If you never created a backup, then take this as a learning experience knowing to always create a backup of your iPhone. That way, you can have something to restore your iPhone from, should anything like this occur. Note that for mobile drives, then backup must be of the same operating system version. So, create on after every update.

  2. As it Reads: "After you erase your iPhone, you can restore your data and settings from a backup. If you didn't back up your iPhone, you can set it up as a new device and then download any data that you have in iCloud."
