Audio on FCPX Timeline and Event does not have sound

I created the library since March and all audios were playing just fine until a couple of weeks ago. When I tried to play on the timeline, audio is not playing and not showing the level. When I tried to get it from the Event again, there is still no audio. Audio is playing fine when being played directly on Finder. Thank you

Does the audio play correctly in the browser?

If it does, it is possible that you accidentally pressed Shift-2, which sets the source media to "video only".

When this happens, then adding any clip to the timeline will ignore audio and add just the video, if present.

Press Shift-1 (or choose Edit->Source Media->All).

Then select one clip in the timeline, press Shift-F to Reveal in Browser, drag the browser clip over the one in the timeline, and choose Replace. Repeat the process for the other clips missing audio.

Hmm even if audio has been added to timeline a while ago and it was working fine? It was possible to change setting even after it's been added on the timeline and was working fine? But yes audio plays correctly in the browser.

Also, I just noticed when audio effects are unchecked, audio came back. When I checked on one of the effects, it's gone again.

The audio sends to new a mixdown of something else. Not sure what was done there. One channel is empty and the other is very low level. I’m not surprised you don’t see a waveform in the timeline, which is much narrower. I don’t know what effect you mean, but it could well be killing the audio.

Do you hear the audio on this clip in the browser?

"The audio sends to new a mixdown of something else."

What do you mean by this?

Yes I'm aware that audio is only on one channel and is very low level. I don't see any waveform in the timeline at all though.

By effects I mean Gain and Voice over enhancement. When I uncheck both effects, waveform appears in timeline.

Yes audio is playing when played on browser.
