Adding Printers to MacBook Pro M2

Have Canon Pixma Pro-100 and Brother MFC-LD2700DW printers. MacBook Pro M2 detects them but won’t accept the printer drivers?

Suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!

Hi,

Do you mean Brother MFC-L2700DW?

Canon PRO-100 and Brother MFC-L2700DW are both listed in About AirPrint - Apple Support as models supporting Apple's AirPrint technology, so additional drivers should not be needed with macOS (Ventura), provided that the printers and the Mac computer are connected to the same network (Wi-Fi router).

If all Wi-Fi settings are OK, and AirPrint still does not work, you could try the following procedure in this order (do not forget the router):

Power off the Wi-Fi router, the printers, the Mac, any iPhones/iPads, and all other computers/devices. Wait two to three minutes. Power on the router. Wait two to three minutes. Power on the printers. Wait a minute or two. Power on the Mac. Finally, power on any iPhones/iPads and all other computers/devices. The idea is to update discovery (Bonjour/mDNS).

Also, the AirPrint technology works with wireless (Wi-Fi) or wired (Ethernet) network connections. These printers have Ethernet, and could be wired to the LAN ports of the router if you so wish. That way, some of the problems related to Wi-Fi may be avoided. If you are using Wi-Fi for the printer connections now, you may want to carry out a quick test with Ethernet instead.

If necessary, try to reset the printing system and re-add the printers using AirPrint:

Reset the printing system on your Mac to solve a problem – Apple Support (UK)

Add a printer to your printer list so you can use it on Mac – Apple Support (UK)

Furthermore, for the Canon PRO-100, the following guide may be of interest to you:

To add to Jan's comprehensive reply try adding the two printers in the System/Printers & Scanners settings pane with either the AirPrint or WiFi or Wireless option (don't remember what it is called exactly).

If they both have a control screen use it to make sure each is connected to your Local Area Network, i.e. WiFi network.

Hi Jan- Thank you very much for your Spot-On suggestions! I ended up going the Ethernet route. Works great! Turns out I had so many problems due to a bad router! An unfortunate coincidence that it went bad at the same time I was trying to set up a new system! Swapped out the router for a new one and now all is right with the world. Well, almost... :-)

Have a wonderful weekend!
