Do I need to have time Machine connected to Airbook at all times?
Currently have Time Machine connected to laptop constantly. Do I really need to do this or can I eject it & only use when I wish to back-up files etc?
MacBook Air 15″, macOS 13.5

No. Time Machine creates "local snapshots" that are flushed to the Time Machine backup disk whenever it is connected. If the backup disk remains unavailable for ten days Time Machine will begin to complain.
