ICC profiles not sticking

Hi!

When I use the Display Calibration Assistant to calibrate my Apple Studio Display, it creates a ICC profile.

The problem is that the profile created with the Display Calibrator Assistant doesn't stick after sleep or reboot; I have to manually go in ColorSync Utility and put it back on after every time my computer goes to sleep.

Is there a way to fix that?

Thank you!

Chris.

PS Where did the Display Calibration Assistant's Expert Mode go from the app's interface? Holding the alt key while opening the app doesn't work.

Give this a try: boot into Safe Mode according to How to use safe mode on your Mac and test to see if the problem persists. Reboot normally and test again.

NOTE 1: Safe Mode boot can take up to 3 - 5 minutes as it's doing the following;

• Verifies your startup disk and attempts to repair directory issues, if needed

• Loads only required kernel extensions (prevents 3rd party kernel/extensions from loading)

• Prevents Startup Items and Login Items from opening automatically

• Disables user-installed fonts

• Deletes font caches, kernel cache, and other system cache files

NOTE 2: if you have a wireless keyboard with rechargeable batteries connect it with its charging cable before booting into Safe Mode. This makes it act as a wired keyboard as will insure a successful boot into Safe Mode.

sorry, i didn't find it helpful.

datacolor served me well for maybe decades, loading the calibrated icc profile at login and keep that active until a full shutdown.

as far as i can understand, the proposed solution is:

  1. use a preset as a starting point
  2. calibrate the display with an affordable colorimeter like the spyder (not $15.000)
  3. grab the values from the spyder report and paste them in the fine-tune calibration for measured stuff
  4. keep the luminosity like that forever, and it's way too bright
  5. re-grab and re-paste values every month or week you want to check and re-calibrate the monitor (monitor changes with time, so you have to do it)

again, not optimal.

we should admit that colorsync is just not working as it did and as it should, loading a profile and use it, and keep using it even in the absurd scenario of a standby.

both the apple customer support and datacolor support are having troubles admitting that it's just not possible to use a calibrated profile like i did for 25 years. to me this is ridiculous.

i was having a very bad month screaming at the guys at datacolor, because the profile is going away at every sleep, logout, black screen. i was really really sure it was the new spyder x2 having issues with my setup, but at this point it's just the 'setup' that cant remember the profiles.

for me this is quite new, i'm using those spyder things since version 3 maybe, never had issues. i'm trying to remember if i had problems before sonoma, but i'm no more sure of anything.

not optimal, i don't want my machine and my monitor to stay awake for no reason.. and you still have to set the right profile every time you log in, at least once a day.

maybe some script to re-enable it at login. and also have it in a handy place like the script menu, so you can re-activate it when the monitor goes black.

this is crazy, it was all working. some recent studio display firmware update ruined everything.

The devices you use all working fine its the problem with Apple's ColorSync Utill that keeps reseting after sleep, restart, resolution change.

But o have noticed some weird things, that half the profile is being used, i can't explain, but for example my calibrated profile adjust for blacks and color (white balance), for blacks i see change, but i color is reset
