iCloud error "iCloud for Windows did not install properly"

I just got a new computer that runs Windows 11. I have not been able to get my Calendar or Contacts to sync through the iCloud from Outlook 2021. When I signed out of the cloud all my data downloaded into Outlook but it will not sync back (no changes are appearing on the cloud). After signing on and out, rebooting, uninstalling and reinstalling, now I am getting an error that says "iCloud for Windows did not install properly. To Repair it, you need to go to Apps & Features, select iCloud Outlook from the app list and click Modify. When prompted, click on Repair. I have done that without success. Also have uninstalled and reinstalled again, no good. I have since seen that others are having trouble with Windows 11 and iCloud sync. Any suggestions from anyone? I can't even sync the two by wire on iTunes and am desperate!

Windows, Windows 6

I had the same issue. Using Office 2016 professional plus.

The icloud agenda plugin worked fine in W10 but not anymore in Windows 11.

After many hours, and the support from Microsoft I got it resolved by downgrading the Icloud app to:

icloud version 7.21.0.23

You need uninstall the icloud app (and the icloud office app as well), then reboot, ten install the older version.

Reboot again, adn the simply use the Icloud app to add the tick mark to the Calendar and contacts box.

That will trigger the install of the outlook plugin, and voila, it all works again.

You can simply do a search on the exact version to download it (skip over the extra stuff it wants to install like Opera and McAfee) and you should be good to go.

Funny thing: in my apps I now only have Icloud, no second small app for the office integration.... anyways, it works and I hope it helps others.

Hello keverly,

Thanks for that info and for choosing the Apple Support Communities. If we understand correctly, you are unable to get iCloud for Windows to work, as you get a message to repair but that doesn't help. At this point, please follow the relevant steps in this Apple resource for this situation, If you can't download or install iCloud for Windows - Apple Support, and then reach out to Apple directly for further investigation: Apple Support

Cheers!
