right now any family member who I share purchases with has the ability to buy anything they want, including subscriptions. I'd like to remove this privilege or limit it.
It depends upon the age of the person. If it is a child, you can set Ask To Buy. Approve what kids buy with Ask to Buy - Apple Support
If it is an adult, you have to encourage them to do this or tell them you will remove them from the family group.

Thanks... it's for adults. I knew that much about the ability to disable it if children are under 18, and was hoping for something simpler.... like being able to disable it myself for an adult on the account...
oh well, guess it's not at the top of their "to do" list...
how do I make family member either ask permission to buy or setup payment themselves for purchases?
