I forgot my new iPad security key
I was just setting my iPad and forgot security key

What security key? iPads themselves don’t use security keys. Do you mean the screen unlock passcode? Or do you mean something else?
Your Apple ID on the other hand, may be set to use a Recovery Key or a physical Security key to log in to it or other Apple services that use it, from untrusted devices or web browsers.

A Recovery Key, can be generated from Settings on the iPad if you still have access to it. Click here ➡️ How to generate a recovery key - Apple Support
If you no longer have the generated recovery key, and don’t have access to the iPad or another trusted device signed in to your Apple ID, then your Apple ID and any devices logged into it with Find My turned on would no longer be accessible and even Apple cannot help you recover access to the Apple ID or the linked devices in this case.
If you forgot your screen unlock passcode(not s security key at all), you will need to restore the iPad and set it up again, to remove it and set up a new passcode. Click here ➡️ If you forgot your iPad passcode - Apple Support
