Brand new MacBook mousepad only clicking Certain areas of the screen

I’m trying to click things (I’m not using a mouse I’m using the touchpad on the laptop) and it won’t click anything on the top bar except the stuff on the right side and it will click everything on the bottom bar but not the options for it (like to close out the app) I cannot find anything to help me. I can’t click the Apple logo, I can’t exit out of safari, I can’t click anything on safari, I can’t restart my laptop bc I can’t get to the Apple logo… so frustrated I have school deadlines and I won’t make it on time 😭
