Approving App Purchase Request From Child

Losing my **** mind. Setting up my sons iphone. Setup the settings as was recommended and from youtube videos I watched. My issue is I get the text message that shows my son requesting a purchase. However the only button I get when I look at the message is "View in Store." I click that button and I cannot find any "approval," "allow," maybe even a freakin "Okay." All I see is "Open", if I already have the app, and the share button that looks like a box and an arrow pointing up. When I click that I get the usual options. Any help would be appreciated.

iPhone X, iOS 16

Hello Roth6788,

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities and for sharing these details with us. Sounds like Ask to Buy isn't properly working for you. If so, we'd like to help out by recommending some troubleshooting steps to help sort this issue out. Let's start off by reviewing and following the steps listed in this resource here: If Ask to Buy isn't working - Apple Support

Things to try first
1.) Make sure that both you and your child have updated to the latest iOS or iPadOS on your iPhone or iPad, and the latest macOS on your Mac.
2.) If you turned on Focus on your device, either turn it off so that you can receive notifications, or check your Focus settings to make sure that you can receive Time Sensitive notifications like Ask to Buy requests.
3.) Try changing the name of your device, and check that you and your child's devices have different names. To see and change the name of a device, go to Settings > General > About > Name.

If you're the family organizer, you can go to your Settings or System Preferences to see if your family members' accounts have Ask to Buy turned on.
On your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
1. Go to Settings.
2. Tap Family. If you don't see Family, tap your name, then tap Family Sharing.
3. If you're the family organizer, make sure that Purchase Sharing is turned on. Then you can tap a family member's name to see if Ask to Buy is turned on for their account.

More steps are also listed under "Review your Family Sharing settings". We hope these steps help you. Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
