Do you have the Apple TV box? If so, which model?

To watch this video, you can choose from any of these:
1. Screen Mirroring (see Mario’s post),
2. Home Sharing via the Apple’s own software instead (may need conversion, if not .mp4/.mov/.m4v),
For Apple TV (4th generation or later):
3. VLC on Apple TV can browse a shared folder on Mac through SMB,
4. VLC on Apple TV allows copying of limited media files to VLC’s cache space on the box (“Remote Playback”).
Hi r12echo,
The Stream audio and video from your Mac with AirPlay resource you're posting from will have the best information we have available on this. You may need to reach out to the app developer directly if this isn't working as you'd expect with VLC player.
Alternatively you could mirror your entire Mac display as mentioned in the resource as well.
Take care.
