I live in Florida and Florida has its own third party app and procedure to add a FL drivers license to your iPhone. Florida legislature and department of motor vehicles have not approved Apple Wallet. The ball is in their court and there is no movement on their part.
Looks like the app has been shut down and pulled from the App Store and the state is looking for a new vendor.
The Florida Smart ID applications will be updated and improved by a new vendor. At this time, the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles is removing the current Florida Smart ID application from the app store. Please email FloridaSmartID@flhsmv.gov to receive notification of future availability.
The state of Florida needs to authorize Apple. Apple has little to they can do in this regard. It takes Florida DMV and the legislature to approve Apple Wallet, then Apple can implement it.
The other issue is even the states that have implement DL’s in electronic wallets, they still want drivers to carry the physical license. The only agency in the country accepting it in place of the physical ID is TSA and that’s only at about 20 of the nation’s largest airports.
Some states have even removed themselves from those using electronic wallets.
Its FL Smart ID (by Thales). Its very glitchy though and I have contacted them because it keeps freezing in the same spot and all they say is that its a pilot app and they are working on it. From reviews looks like some people have been able to get it to work but majority have issues with it. Doesnt hurt to try and see if you have any luck with it.
The app has been shut down. FL Smart ID is no longer available and the DMV advised user to remove it from their phones. They said they’re working on a new version by 2025 but giving that Apple and even Google already have integrated support for this through their OS I believe it would be better to just go with that option. Other states already have this active why can’t FL ? Is there a way to send feedback on this to either Apple or even the local DMv? Anyone know?

Thanks for the update!
It was working in April 2024, but has since been pulled from the App Store. I have not heard if the app will return or if FL is finally considering AppleWallet, but I’m hoping for either.
