how to continue a search query in safari?

let's say my query in my head is "wireless headphones." I write in safari search "wire" in the sentence I get "wireless" I want to press tab or somewhere else to automatically write "wireless" and then type "head" and the result is "wireless headphones." I again pressed tab or somewhere else to automatically complete the query and pressed enter. But when I press tab just everything disappears, where do I press? I hope I have explained myself correctly and you understood me.

I am nearly certain that is a function of Safari Suggestions: Change Search settings in Safari on Mac - Apple Support, but it can also be a function of your chosen Search Engine (Include search engine suggestions).

For example, having never searched for "wireless headphones" in the past this is what I get:

Other Search Engines may do different things, so try experimenting.

It does not auto-complete using the Tab key, but you can select one of the suggestions with the cursor keys or (obviously) using the trackpad.
