Recycle old iMac which doesn't boot

I have an old iMac which doesn't boot, I tried various options but gave up and got a new iMac. I want to recycle/give away the old iMac. What are my options?

iMac 21.5″, macOS 10.13

If you're concerned about the data on the old Mac see if it will boot into Target Disk Mode. Do so with it connected to your new iMac. Use the new iMac to erase the drive in the old Mac (and get any files you might want also).

Note: if the problem is not in the drive itself or the power supply it should boot into Target Disk Mode.

If that doesn't work if the iMac is 2011 or older the screen is held on by magnets and can be easily removed so you can remove the drive. Don't worry abut putting it back together as you're going to recycle it so just close it up. Keep you mouse and keyboard as they can be used as spars in an emergency.

I took my 2011 iMac into my Apple store and they recycled it for me. Just had to sign a waver.
