I had my iphone backed up in iTunes and started using my husband’s iPhone. To access the photos from my old iPhone I restored the backup to my new iPhone and all the contents has been erased and overwritten. I have no backups on the new phone. Can someone help please.

No, if you restore from a previous backup without creating a current backup, you won't be able to recover any data.

The overwritten contents are not recoverable unless you backed them up or you are using iCloud photos.
