how do i turn off my camera before answering a facetime call,the banner doesn’t pop up

Hello pernella,
FaceTime Video would require the camera to answer the call. FaceTime Audio calls, would be audio only.
To adjust your FaceTime notifications, use the following steps:
- Go to the Settings app
- Tap on Notifications
- Tap on FaceTime
- Make sure Banner is enabled here.
