locked Notes icloud

On my iphone 12 I created a locked Note under icloud..It has a picture in the locked note.I was able yo open the locked note with a password or face ID.However when I tried to open the same note on icloud after entering the password I was unable to get my picture.I downloaded it to my computer and it was just a whole bunch of codes but not png or jpeg pictures. So How do I get my picture in my locked notes in icloud?

Hey altura268,

When you add a photo to a Note, then lock the Note, the photo isn’t viewable except on your device. Any Note that’s been locked becomes encrypted which keeps it safer than simply adding a photo of your passport and driver’s license, but you’ll need to download it to one of your devices to “un-encrypt” it.

To avoid this, we recommend not locking the Note you want to access in the event you can’t access on your device. We want to assure you that iCloud is secure: iCloud security overview - Apple Support. To keep others from being able to access an unlocked note, you’ll want to keep your Apple ID secure: Keep your Apple ID secure - Apple Support

All the best.

Hi altura268,

It isn't possible to view or download photos from a locked note on the iCloud site. If you use iCloud Photos, you can download photos and videos using these steps: Download iCloud photos and videos

On your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
1. On iCloud.com, tap Photos.
2. Tap Select, then tap a photo or video. To select multiple photos or videos, tap more than one. To select your entire library, tap Select All.
3. Tap the more button  .
4. Choose Download, then tap Download to confirm.

If your photos download as a ZIP archive, learn how to uncompress the folder on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

On your Mac or PC
1. On iCloud.com, click Photos and select a photo or video. Hold the command key on your Mac or control key on your PC to select multiple photos or videos.
2. Click and hold the download button the iCloud download icon in the upper corner of the window. If you want to download your photo or video as it was originally captured or imported, choose Unmodified Original. For JPEG or H.264 format — including edits, and even if it was originally in HEIF or HEVC format — choose Most Compatible.*
3. Click Download.

If your photos download as a ZIP archive, learn how to uncompress the folder on your Mac or your PC

If needed, this resource has more information on setting up and using iCloud Photos: Set up and use iCloud Photos

Regards.

Thank you for the above info.

What I was trying to do with Locked Notes was to put a picture of my passport and driver license .

I can lock them in Notes and stored locally in my i-phone. However If I were to lose my passport and my i-phone (when I am traveling overseas), I want to be able to retrieve them in my Locked Note from i-cloud.

I thought storing them in i-cloud (Locked) would serve that purpose. Then I found out when I tried to open the locked notes containing my passport and driver license in i-cloud, I could not retrieve the pictures.

Is there another way besides locked Notes to store secured information in i-cloud (Locked for security) that I can retrieve with a password?

Thanks for your help.
