Control-D no longer works

The clip duration menu and the Control-D keys combo no longer work. I've got the latest versions of Ventura and FCP and the Mac is a M1 Studio with 64 Gb of RAM. So far, I've trashed the preferences (at FCP startup and, to be sure, by killing the plist in Library/Preferences). I've restarted FCP and Ventura a few times. I've trashed FCP and reinstalled it from the Appstore. I even changed the keyboard. And, of course, I've used some profanities. All in vain. No matter what FCP library I try, no matter on what drive it is, Control-D refuses to work as well as the right-clic menu. FYI I've been using FCP since 2012 with which I've signed over 150 features (between 20 and 90 minutes each) as a director and editor. What's happening now, I've never experienced before and I've found no useful ressource on the Internet.

Has someone any clue ? Thank you for helping.

Thank you. I only wanted to have 4 PNG photos already placed on the timeline, to share exactly the same length, i.e. 9 px. So, as usual, I clicked on the PNG clip to be able to do either Control-D, either a right click to have the menu. Nothing ever happened. So, I started trying elsewhere with clean clips already used in older productions with the same negative results. Weird.

Is a screen shot really essential ? I could only show you a regular timeline.

A couple of things. First, I'm back to video prod after three intensive months of gardening, and to top it all, I need some rest. So I'm not as keen now as I'll be next week. Second, I've been using four monitors for many years, and , believe it or not, I never really noticed the blue digits at the bottom of the viewer. Mine is a 32-inche screen. What I have done all those years was to activate Control-D, type in some figures and hit Return. And it would work, as I would see with the yellow figures on top of the time-line. But today, as I understand now, this part of the deal has been somehow slow to respond. I mean if I type in some numbers, chances are noting will happen. But if I persist, it will most likely work after three or four trials. And that could be the issue. Might be a Bluetooth malfunction. I'll be investigating on that area of my computing miseries. So thank you Tom, it's been a privilege to get some answers from you. You just told a 13-year user of FCP that he should stop using the crank to start his car and rely on the starter switch.
