Mac keyboard shortcuts - Apple Support (CA)

  • Option-Delete: Delete the word to the left of the insertion point.
  • Control-H: Delete the character to the left of the insertion point. Or use Delete.
  • Control-D: Delete the character to the right of the insertion point. Or use Fn-Delete.

➡️ Fn-Delete: Forward delete on keyboards that don't have a Forward Delete key. Or use Control-D. ⬅️

  • Control-K: Delete the text between the insertion point and the end of the line or paragraph.

To ask Apple to add this, you can use

Personally I've never heard of safety problems caused by the normal 3rd party software used for this kind of thing.

Thank you.

  1. Of all the above, everything works only if you use the English keyboard layout. I have to work with several languages, it doesn't work there.
  2. It is impossible to press with one hand Fn-Delete. This is the main reason why this combination will never become the main one.
  3. Option-Delete is cool, but solves a completely different problem.

Intuitively, it is more understandable when Shift+Delete is used for Forward delete, while it can be pressed with one hand. I still hope that Apple will add customization of this option, since only for this i need to install third-party software, which has full access to the keyboard, which is not safe.
