I cannot connect Brother Label Printer QL-700 with macOS Monterey 12.6

  • I plugged in the label printer QL 700 with their USB to my Mac.
  • I downloaded P-touch Editor from the AppStore.
  • I went to Brother Downloads page (https://support.brother.com/g/b/downloadlist.aspx?c=us_ot&lang=en&prod=lpql700eus&os=10071), selected MacOS 12 and it says "Use P-touch Editor to print from your Mac. You do not need to download and install any drivers." Below that, it says "Utilities. P-touch Update Software. This software enables you to update the firmware of your machine". I downloaded and launched that.
  • I went to System Preferences, tried to add a printer and I can't.
  • I went to P-touch editor, tried to print with no success.

Can anybody help me?

If a driver was not automatically selected when Adding the Printer, then did you try to click on the drop down list box to see if a driver can be manually selected for this printer? Choose Air Print if available, otherwise you will need to look for a P-Touch driver within the list of printers. If you don't see one under "Brother" or "P-Touch", then see if there is a CUPS or Gutenprint labeled driver for this label printer. The information Brother provided in your link seems to imply there is some sort of driver available for your label printer already built into macOS, so there is no need to download a driver separately (the items available on the Brother site are for a special editing app, and an app to update the firmware of your label printer). An Air Print driver would be the best first choice, followed by CUPS or Gutenprint.
