How to turn off automatic numbering in Notes?

Do the following:

Type: 11. something

Hit Return key. Notes makes new line starting with 12. (automatic numbering)

Click twice "Make a checklist" tool to cancel automatic numbering

Type: 19. something at the beginning of the new line (that is the next number I need to start a new line with)

Hit Return key to make a new line. Notes brings automatic numbering back and changes 19. back to 13.

How is it possible to cancel automatic numbering in general in Notes?
