Apple Cash restricted my account and can’t tell me why!

Out of the blue my Apple Card was Restricted. When I called the support number they couldn’t tell me why, they just said it was the banks decision and that there was no one else to talk to about. Basically just go pound sand!

What exactly was restricted?

Apple Cash and Apple Card are 2 different and unrelated things. Which one was restricted exactly?

If your Apple Cash account was restricted, follow the steps in the support document linked below.

If your Apple Card was locked, contact Goldman Sachs at Apple Card - Official Apple Support

If something else was restricted then please clarify exactly what.

I’ll specifically address several of the issues you mention in your post.

Apple Card is issued and serviced by Goldman Sachs Bank. Apple Cash is administered by Green Dot Bank. Each financial institution has their own support staff and it’s separate from Apple Support. However, if you call/chat Apple Support, your call will be transferred to the appropriate support team.

Banks are regulated by Federal banking regulations. Support staff are told what to do by the powers that be and once an account is restricted or locked, it’s too late for discussion or explanation. It’s always best to have full disclosure with the institutions you bank with. This is just a personal opinion based on 40+ years of experience. This not, in my opinion, a Goldman Sachs, Apple or Green Dot issue. Your transactions triggered a red flag and your account is/was under investigation. Banks are empowered to pick the customers they’ll do business, just as long as they don’t discriminate per Federal laws.

Now for the good news. Your Apple Card will still earn Daily Cash and you can request that Goldman Sachs transfer the funds to your bank etc. But, from your post, it appears your Apple Cash account has be restricted. You can continue earning Daily Cash with every transaction. Goldman Sachs may even be able to transfer it to an Apple Savings account. You are welcome to discuss with Goldman Sachs how this will work.

This happened to me as well. :(

As it turns out I've followed every step to find out why my Apple Cash & Daily Cash are "restricted" and no answer. One day I looked at my Apple Card and realized that my Daily Cash account was restricted. I've contacted support three times and no answers have been provided to me. Not to mention how rude the support members were once you are transferred away from Apple Support. The support agent didn't provide any options to resolve nor would they even let me try to validate my account or provide information on how it got to that point.

This permanent and sudden action is mind boggling. A major disappointment in having the Apple Card because you can't utilize the benefits anymore AND you can't use one of the most favored wallet features of Apple Cash ever again.

I wanted to respond to this post because I haven't seen too many people with the same issue online. It's very irritating. Such a poor partnership with Apple and Goldman Sachs. Not to mention a huge blindspot that should have a solution in place.
