To get started, let's check to see if your photos are in iCloud and need time to sync to your device. Are you able to see the missing photos here: iCloud Photos
If so, make sure that you have Low Power Mode turned off as it can pause iCloud Photos. Use Low Power Mode - Apple Support
If they are not there, check your Recently Delete album to try to recover them: Delete photos on your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support
