What is DFU mode?

I have an iPhone, which I am guessing is like the 2nd iPhone or 3rd iPhone to ever be released. I And trying to wipe it and restart it so that I can use it for music in my office. When I power it off, then use the trick where you plug it in and hold the home button at the same time it begins the restore process and then give me this error.

Please help.

Stuck in DFU mode, the hard one to repair... I am stuck in DFU mode due to a restore or update error. When I looked at YouTube, they told me step examples like hard resetting your iPad, using the iTunes app to restore my iPad or use third party apps to exit me from DFU mode which required money to pay. I was upset that those solutions didn't quite help me. Can someone who knows about this kind of situation solve this problem for me? DO NOT SAY THAT I SHOULD GO TO AN APPLE STORE PLS, FIND AN ALTERNATIVE, EASY WAY. thanks.

DFU stands for Device Firmware Update. It is a way to restore your device.
