Hello jclarktaylor,

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities and for sharing these details with us. We'd like to assist with this AirDrop issue. According to this resource here: Use AirDrop on your Mac - Apple Support

It states the following:

When someone nearby attempts to send you a file using AirDrop, you see their request as a notification, or as a message in the AirDrop window. Click Accept to save the file to your Downloads folder.

If items are not showing up in your Downloads folder, then try the steps below to troubleshoot this issue:

1.) Restart your iPhone: Restart your iPhone - Apple Support

2.) Restart your Mac: Shut down or restart your Mac - Apple Support

This step usually helps refresh things. If your issue continues, make sure that both devices are fully updated. Updates usually include various fixes:

-Update your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support

-Update macOS on Mac - Apple Support

You can even test this issue in safe mode. This step can help isolate possible software related issues: Use safe mode on your Mac - Apple Support

Apple silicon
1.) Shut down your Mac.
2.) Turn on your Mac and continue to press and hold the power button until you see the startup options window.
3.) Select your startup disk, then press and hold the Shift key while clicking “Continue in Safe Mode.”
4.) Log in to your Mac. You might be asked to log in again.

Depending on your results, follow the steps under “If the issue continues in safe mode” or “If the issue doesn't continue in safe mode”.

We hope these steps help you. Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
