Setting Apple Numbers Cell Data Format to default Text.

I know how to change/set the Data Format for Cells but this only works for cells that have already been created. When creating a new empty cell it always defaults back to Automatic. Or when creating new cells when pasting into the table it always defaults back to Automatic. For example pasting "true" always converts to "TRUE" when pasted. I rarely use Apple Numbers for anything other than text tables so being able to set the default to Text instead of Automatic would be great instead of having to do it manually each and every time.

What I'm asking for is if there is a way to change the settings to whenever I start a new table the default is automatically set to Text. Or even if I have to manually set it to Text each time that the cell Data Format will stay in Text format as I create new cells.

Try this:

Create a new table.

Select all cells.

Set the data format to Text.

As you enter data into the cells, that data should be treated as text.

Keep at least one empty row at the bottom of the table.

When you need to add a row, place the mouse pointer in the space between the row number below which you'll you'll insert the row (Row 7 in the image), and click the 'down' v that appears.

The new row (8) will be inserted below row 7, pushing the rows below downward.

Type your next data into row 8.

Mine was the three digit 'number' 901, which, as can be seen is aligned left in the cell—the default position for text—indicating the new cell inherited the 'text' format that had been applied to cells in row 7 (and the rest ot the cells in the table.
