Getting notifications from an unchecked calendar

Hi, I have created a work calendar that gives me scheduled updates of thing to do on my work day. When I’m not in work, I uncheck the calendar so it doesn’t display on my calendar. I still get screen notifications of this unchecked calendar throughout the day.

Any advice please?
