Is It Me, or Is the iPhone's Autocorrect Getting Worse?

Got an iPhone 11 that I hate. 7+ was the peak. Everything since then has been a downgrade. The icing on the cake is the autocorrection feature, which seems to be growing more and more stupid as time goes on.

To whit, typing in sentences to the phone is already a PITA, but typing something like, "I'm going to pay it off" generates "I'm going to off off" because O was hit instead of I (which is a separate screen-related issue I don't care about because I hate this phone). So Apple algorithms focus on autocorrecting to words that have more letters and doesn't even bother with grammar.

WITHOUT GRAMMATICAL CORRECTION, AUTOCORRECT IS USELESS.

Period.

There are much more egregious examples I can give (such as aboit becoming Adverse instead of "about"). Yeah, I get that we can customize the dictionaries. However, it's an uphill battle since the algorithms keep getting dumber and dumber. SIRI has been rendered absolutely worthless as a result of Apple's "improvements," and has lost any amusement value as she now operates as a brain-dead waste of CPU resources.

If you're not going to improve the grammar rules algorithms, what is the point of even offering autocorrect? No one is trying to correct not only their own typing, but the absolute crap-tier "corrections" of the algorithms for autocorrect as well. That's twice as much headache and makes using the phone an absolute nightmare for anything where Apple's autocorrect algorithms are allowed to operate.

How about instead of trying to wow us with 5G crap that no one wants (despite all your marketing efforts to convince us otherwise) you start working on improving user experience? As it stands right now, I do not recommend Apple to anyone anymore because of how bad my experiences have been, and Android sucks just as hard.

Predictive text has not only decreased in quality - I took a screenshot showing that it wanted to replace the word “because” with the word “gecause” - but attempting to place your cursor before a word to correct it, now auto selects the entire word beside it and trying to unselect it, is like trying to get snot off your finger by shaking your hand.

Apple, do better. Your products are increasing in price while your quality nosedives. It is only a matter of time before the restless acid-spewing spirit of Steve Jobs rises out of the Apple Patch & wreaks screaming hot vengeance upon those responsible for ruining his company. Tim Apple, I’m looking at you pal.

You sound like a broken record replying to everyone and their mother, I'm pretty sure most of these people are just venting their frustrations and know how support actually works.

Beyond catharsis, "venting" here does nothing. If everyone who cares tells Apple, things may actually happen. And, no, it has been my experience that the vast majority of people do NOT know about the feedback page.

Shall we agree that I won't tell you not to post criticisms of my permissible posts and you won't tell me not to post the feedback link?

Please get it figured out and leave it alone! I’m this close \\ to going back to a Dell that I had and loved so much before my new husband talked me into Mac/iPhone/iPad, and Microsoft that I also loved. Across the board I am about done with Apple.

No one reading here can "get it figured out". Apple does not read here in this user-to-user forum for feedback or suggestions. You can, however, let them know your thoughts here:

I agree with him/her/them that whining about it on here is cathartic but it's not helpful. I whined on here too, but they need to be inundated with complaints as they obviously don't think there's an issue with predictive text. I dread texting someone now as I know it's going to take twice as long as it used to. It's like they're using AI but the intelligence they're referencing are the kids I used to work with as an educational assistant. That's NOT good.
