First, delete preferences any time the application crashes.
To delete preferences, hold down command and option while starting FCP X and click Delete Preferences.
The application will start in a default state, and open an "Untitled" library. Reopen the library you were working on, set the preferences the way you like them, and try again.
Second, if the problem persists: Please run Etrecheck and post its full report here. Use the "additional text" button and paste the report into the text box.
The Etrecheck report will let us have an idea of possible software conflicts that may impact FCP.

Tom:
Etrecheck did not have full disk access, it says so in the report
Andy:
To grant Etrecheck full disk access: System Settings->Privacy & Security->Full Disk Access, click + and select Etrecheck.
Then open Etrecheck again, go to Etrecheck->Settings->Privacy and check the box to "Allow full disk access",
and run a new report to get more detailed information.
I was told by apple support that the crashing is happening because I formatted my external drives to EXFAT. So now I have to reformat to APFS. I didn't know this when I purchased the new drives, I googled what format to use for a mac and it said, EXFAT. Duh. Oh well, live and learn. Thanks for your help guys!
Create a new admin user and test the application in that.
You are running 13.2.1, and the current version of macOS is 13.5.1.
You also seen to not be running a current version of FCP but we don’t know which one. How do I say that? Because there were recent updates to 10.6.7 and 10.6.8 but there no such update in recent software installs section of the report .
Yes, you should use APFS for SSD and HFS+ for HD. But maybe updating the software will also help.
I don’t know why EtreCheck isn’t showing the drive formats. Does EtreCheck have full disk access?
I did delete preference and it didn't help. I rebooted and deleted preferences but it just crashes.
FULL ETRE CHECK REPORT RE, FCPX CRASHING AND NOT LOADING.
Don't know. I am working on solving this issue by reformatting a hard drive APFS and then copying all my files onto that hard drive. If it doesn't work, I will be back. Thanks.
Thanks. I will make sure to do those updates.
