I have no more details to add. I just need to know the method for converting these pages to pdf format.

A .pages file is an editable document created by Pages. So open the file using Pages. If you don't have Pages, or have an old version, download it from the App Store. (It requires macOS 12.3 or later, but you have macOS 14, so you should be OK.)
Use the Print command, and in the Print… dialog, use the PDF pop-up menu to Save as PDF….

Scratch that about being able to download Pages if you have have macOS 10.14. That's earlier than 12.3. Sorry for the mistake.
If you have an older version of Pages, and it will read the .pages file, you may still be able to generate a PDF file using the Print dialog.
Received file with extension of "pages". Need to have them in pdf format so I can print them and share with family members.
