Creating a new Apple ID with different country/region?

My current Apple ID has country region INDIA and it has been the same since creation in 2013.

I use the 200 GB iCloud Storage plan and have around 6000 photos & videos in iCloud Photo Library.

I want to change my country region to the USA (as I work there currently). But in doing so I have been told that I will not be able to use any free trials being offered for different services (e.g. Apple TV+, Music, Arcade etc) IF I have already used any trials for the same services under INDIA as my region (same Apple ID). So in short, free trials for any service work only once across countries/regions.

As a solution, I need to create a new Apple ID with USA as my country and avail the free trials using the same.

QUESTION: I can move my iCloud documents from the INDIA Apple ID to the new USA Apple ID using drag & drop on my Mac (iCloud Drive) but I need to know about the photos? I can download the photos in zip format via iCloud.com or the Photos app on my Mac (download originals) but what I am confused about is when I upload them to the new Apple ID (USA) will they bear the same timestamp (meta data) as they do under India Apple ID i.e. a photo taken at the Eiffel Tower in Paris in 2016, will show at the same location, date, time when uploaded to the new Apple ID or they will show the timestamp of when I am uploading them? Coz I don't want to lose the geo taggings of so many memories dating back to 2015.

Hello sskundu,

It is strongly discouraged to use two different Apple IDs. The reason being is that everything you have installed or updated using the old Apple ID will still be linked to it. While anything new would then be associated with the new Apple ID. So it ultimately necessitates you to need to remember and keep up two Apple IDs and your data ends up split between them, including iCloud content as only one can be active to sync at a time. Another important factor to remember is an iPhone can only be associated with one Apple ID for 90 days. So you cannot freely switch back and forth. It is much easier both short and long term to continue using your normal Apple ID and just change the region and avoid being in a permanent position of split accounts. Here's how to change the region: Change your Apple ID country or region - Apple Support

If you must use two Apple IDs, then the data itself that is moved/synchronized manually shouldn't change its metadata. The photo remains the one that was taken, it's just been sent to another place - which is no different then you sending it to a friend.

Take care!

There are good reasons for needing more than one Apple ID and they are all to do with Apple’s ridiculous geographical limitations. Many people travel. A lot. And they need apps in some places that are not available in their home region. Having 2 IDs can allow you to download these apps but can easily screw up your data.

Time for Apple to actually make their system work for people who travel for a living. It used to make sense to have more than one physical phone for different regions. But now they have implemented eSIM in half-arsed fashion you only need one phone……..until you need an app that is only available somewhere else.

The company needs to understand what they have done and what their customers need to do.
