Network Options greyed out and can't connect to internet

My wifi and internet work on another device, but when I try to connect to wifi on my macbook pro running monterey 12.6.7 it says no internet. It has an apparent wifi connection. Network preference does not let me click on renew IP address or make any changes at all - all options are greyed out. I connected using my phone and they are still greyed out - but I can connect to the internet. So how do I change the network options? Like renew DHCP lease. It is not locked and it is my own computer - I have administrator privileges .

All you should need to do is connect to your network. Unless the router is damaged, worn out or has been "messed" with there is no need to do anything to it.

First thing to do is pull the power plug on your router, wait maybe 30 seconds then plug it back in. It should connect to your modem in 30-45 seconds.

Once that is taken care of, you need to either connect to your existing network or create a new one: Set up a network service on Mac - Apple Support

Choose the applicable macOS

You may need to restart your Mac; if fact that is a good thing to do periodically.

To be clear, I rebooted my router, Modem, and Computer multiple times, I am able to connect to a network and the internet using a work around, (e.g. phone hotspot or my backhaul 5g router connection) but even if connected I am not able to activate the renew DHCP lease button or any of the other aspects of the network services in system preferences. They are greyed out. this includes, for example, simply changing the networks I prefer in wifi networks
