Adding data to photos in a shared album

I created a number of photo albums from a trip. I put captions on a number of photos within those albums. I followed steps to share those albums. The captions did not show up in the information part of those photos I shared. How do I add the information from the original captions to the photos in albums I shared? I did all this work from my 13" 2014 MacBook Pro, 2.8 GH2 Dual intel Core i5.

Hello Monarchgranny,

When using iCloud Shared Photo Library, you can view or edit the caption for a photo using the steps below:

1. In Photos on iCloud.com, double-click the photo or video you want to see more information about.
2. Click the Info button in the Photos toolbar.
3. To add or edit a title or caption, click Edit, enter text, then click Save.
The title appears in the Photos toolbar when you view a photo. You can also see it from the thumbnail view.
To view the caption, open the photo, then click the Info button.

Note: If you add or edit a caption for a photo or video in your iCloud Shared Photo Library, all participants can see the changes.

You can also find those steps in this resource: Add or view titles, captions, and more in Photos on iCloud.com - Apple Support

iCloud Shared Photo Library does require macOS Ventura, and based on the details you provided, it appears your Mac is not compatible with that version of macOS: How to use iCloud Shared Photo Library - Apple Support

Hopefully that addresses your inquiry.

Take care.

In a shared album you can only add some information to a photo by adding a comment to the photo.

When you share each photo individually, (on macOS Monterey of Ventura) the caption of a photo is added automatically as a comment to the photo, but only, if you share each photo separately. You can add the comment later, however: View a photo on the Shared album enlarged, then click the callout in the lower left corner, and now you can add a comment with details about the photo. The comment will be visible, when you view the Shared album in the Activity Stream.
