App Purchase Receipts With Incorrect Purchase Date

I fully understand the grouping small purchases before billing within a few days. What I don’t understand is having the wrong date of purchase on the receipt.

Today is Sept 9th, 2023. I received a receipt that I purchased a small Gem pack on Beatstar yesterday, September 8th, 2023. I haven’t purchased anything in over a week.

How am I to know if there was an issue or not, or if I am being billed whenever they want because I make that same purchase every once in awhile and they just charge it whenever they feel like to my account hoping I won’t think anything about it. I need actual purchase dates on my receipts, not the date you bill me, just like anywhere else. (Groceries, Amazon, car dealerships, anything).

I could start fighting these claims saying I did not make any purchases on this date.

please note, this was not done on an iphone4, I must have hit the wrong button when commenting

I just looked in claims and I was refunded.

That is good news 👍

If Apple has approved your request, see this Apple article: Check the status of a refund for apps or content that you bought from Apple

Check the status of a refund for apps or content that you've bought from Apple – Apple Support (UK)

When will I get the money back?

If your refund is approved, the funds will be applied to the same payment method that you used to buy the item

Here's how long it takes for a refund to appear on your account or statement:

Store credit – It may take up to 48 hours to see the refund in your Apple Account balance.

Mobile phone billing – It may take up to 60 days for the statement to show the refund. Processing time may be affected by your network provider. You can contact your network provider for an update.

All other payment methods – It may take up to 30 days for the statement to show the refund. If you can't see the refund after 30 days, contact your financial institution.

This leaves so many questions now… . . . .

No one here has insight into your account, we are also users of Apple products & services like you.

I had to make the same purchase last night,

If you make a purchase from the App Store / iTunes Store you wil always get an invoice from Apple, check your mail box.

So, I had put in my request for refund under “other” and wrote that I make this purchase a lot but did not make one on sept 8th. I haven’t made this purchase in at least a week. If this is the incorrect purchase date, please let me know the correct date.

today, I just looked in claims and I was refunded. This leaves so many questions now…

did they actually over charge me because I always make those purchases? was I correct that maybe I really didn’t make that purchase in a month? A lot has been going on, so times been messed up lately.

or did they just refund me because it was so small and the timeframe was really off?

I had to make the same purchase last night, however I took a screenshot of the purchase so it’s time stamped.

so remember my purchase on Sept 9th?

I finally got billed for it on Sept 19th and it says purchased on Sept 19th.

Yes, I do.

Nobody here knows why, we are also users of Apple products & services like you.

I have the money, but what if I didn’t? What if a week and a half later I spend the money I had for the purchase on something else, because I figured the money was taken already or just totally forgot about that purchase?

I happened to purchase a music album on September 14th. The amount was immediately deducted from my Apple Account balance (Store credit), and I have not yet received the invoice.

I keep track of what I purchase from Apple and when, and always make sure I have enough money in my Apple Account balance.

Plus it’s a matter of principle, billing should be no later then 48 hrs of purchase.

For that you have to go to Apple, Apple is not here.

Call Apple in your region see -> Contact Apple for support and service

If you have received an invoice from Apple, on every invoice from the Apple Store and/or iTunes Store always states what you have purchased (and/or concerns a subscription) and the amount.

Tap on Report a problem on the invoice.

Or try to ->  Request a refund for apps or content that you bought from Apple.

Request a refund for apps or content you've bought from Apple – Apple Support (UK)

If you have requested a refund, you must wait until Apple has approved. Then you will receive a message from Apple.

Refunds are not guaranteed. For more information, see the Terms & Conditions.

If you purchase something 5 times in one day with small amounts, you may receive a collective invoice.

There is always a chance that you will receive a collective invoice, but then you can see per 'subject' what is being invoiced and the corresponding price.

Under each 'subject' you can click on 'Report a problem'.

But it would be very helpful to be billed no longer than 48 hrs and have actual purchase date, so you can confirm the claim.

Always an invoice from Apple within 48 hours, taking weekends and/or business days into account.

Some time ago I purchased a ringtone of 1.29 and received an invoice from Apple within 24 hours.

Thank you so much for your insight in all this, it has been very useful information.

When it’s small purchases, To my understanding, they do not send an invoice right away due to them accumulating them to avoid extra charges. Which is reasonable.

Apple knows that if you've bought one thing, you're likely to buy another—often pretty soon after. So, Apple waits to bill your card for a day or two in case you make more purchases that it can group together.

I am not thinking changes can be made on here, I am just voicing my opinion and wondering if others are having the same issue.

But it would be very helpful to be billed no longer than 48 hrs and have actual purchase date, so you can confirm the claim.

I do see in “report a claim” that my purchase from last night is pending

Hi again, so remember my purchase on Sept 9th?

I finally got billed for it on Sept 19th and it says purchased on Sept 19th.

this is what I was talking about. Why are they waiting soooo long to bill?

i can’t keep track that way.

I have the money, but what if I didn’t? What if a week and a half later I spend the money I had for the purchase on something else, because I figured the money was taken already or just totally forgot about that purchase?

For me, It’s due to me making the same purchase every once in a while, I want to keep track of which and how many they are billing me for in case there is a glitch in the computer or something, and I get over charged. Plus it’s a matter of principle, billing should be no later then 48 hrs of purchase.

Thanks for the response

I do know how to request a refund, but i believe they may just have the wrong date of purchase. I did make that same purchase I believe it was a week or two ago, but in purchase history, there isn’t a purchase like that for over a month. As I mentioned, I have made the same purchase every once in awhile.

So it is possible the date is incorrect for date of purchase. I don’t feel right asking for a refund that I made but just on a different date, a week or two ago, but it could have been as long as a month ago that I did make that purchase, which the history for a month ago would be correct and this new one extra charge.

i will request a refund to see what the response is, however I believe they will say they only put bill date not actual purchase date or something along those lines, which is wrong in my books. They should have both dates if that is the case.

once I receive a response, I will update my post.

Sep 10, 2023 7:18 AM in response to Say10-IPhone

It is nice to know that apple will refund, I just wish I knew if it was because they were in the wrong over charging me or the purchase date was off and I was billed over a week later.

if they do only put bill date, (which I still don’t believe is right) and they are accumulating small purchases over the course of 48 hrs max, I should get a bill soon for this purchase I made last night.

I am going to pay closer attention this time.

Sep 10, 2023 8:45 AM in response to Raicya

So it’s probable, since it was way longer than 48 hrs , including only business days, that it was an incorrect charge.

since it is the same purchase I make “sm gem pack” and I receive a bill really late, it’s hard to tell if those are actual purchases or incorrect ones.

I don’t make purchases for music, does it show what songs you purchased by title or just that you bought a song from iTunes and the price?

Sep 10, 2023 9:02 AM in response to Raicya

So they are very detailed. they are for what you bought exactly in which game as well. which is really great.

However, I still have the issue of mine being the exact same purchase, every once in awhile. I can’t agree or disagree. If it was a one time buy and I never got charged for it in the past, then it’s simple, I made that purchase.

but being the same, I can’t tell which purchases I were billed for and which ones weren’t if it was just billed really late.

I just feel really bad if they refunded me for a purchase I had made just they billed me really late or if it was an extra charge. I can’t say for sure. All I know is I hadn’t made that purchase in over a week.

Sep 21, 2023 10:53 AM in response to Say10-IPhone

hi Raicya I know apple is not here, I am just updating and ranting.

I don’t have money in my apple (wallet) account, any purchases I make in apps is being taken directly from my bank. (Debit VISA) which is also why it is more important that they don’t wait forever to bill.

maybe that’s the difference as to why you are billed right away and mine takes a bit. Maybe I should just buy a card for my wallet, that way I can get charged ASAP.

cause my way is nuts for billing.

Use your Apple Account balance (Store credit) is not the same as use Wallet - Apple Pay.

See -> How to use Apple Pay

You can have a credit card / debit card on file and an Apple Account balance.

See also -> Payment methods you can use with your Apple ID

Payment methods you can use with your Apple ID – Apple Support (UK)

fyi: Not all credit & debit cards seem to work with App Store / iTunes Store, try a different one, or preferably a credit card. If your card is not accepted as a paymenf method, you need to contact your bank.
