New right airpod won’t connect, but left does. What do I do?

I bought a new right airpod because I thought it broke, when trying to use the new one (I’ve charged it the last hour) it also doesn’t work. I’ve cleaned the case and both right airpods, still will not connect. My airpods also say they may not be verified, if i know they’re real do I just keep using them?

iPhone XR, iOS 14

Greetings IzBizWiz,

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities, it's great to have you here.

This is a great question and Apple actually has a really solid resource here, which we think will be exactly the thing to help you get this resolved: Set up your replacement AirPods or charging case - Apple Support. Our recommendation is to check that out and work through the steps there to see if you are able to get those headphones set up as expected.

The information below can be found in that resource as well:

Set up your AirPods or charging case

1. On your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, go to Settings > Bluetooth and tap the Information button  next to your AirPods.
2. Tap Forget This Device.
3. Tap Forget Device, and tap again to confirm.
4. Put both AirPods in your charging case.
5. Open the lid and check the status light. It should flash amber.
6. Press and hold the setup button on the back of the case for a few seconds. The status light should flash white.*
7. Go to the Home Screen on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.
8. Open the case—with your AirPods inside—and hold it next to your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch. A setup animation appears on your screen.
9. Tap Connect, then tap Done.

We hope that this information gets everything working again.

Many thanks!
