Making informational video in FCP with PNGs. Video background is white in FCP but exports as black.

I am making a video that has a bunch of PNGs I made in photoshop. To make the background white, I put a 360 degree solid color generator under the clips. It only worked partially and made a lot of the PNGs disappear completely for some reason. So I made a white screen in photoshop and placed it under the clips and changed the background to be white in render settings. That seemed to fix the problem, but every time the video rendered, the background would turn black again, so I turned off auto rendering and set the render codec to Pro res 4444. That again solved the problem, but only in the playback; the video still always exports with a black background. Ive exported the master file as apple prores 4444 because it supports an alpha channel or something but it still comes out with a black background. I took the black-background export and put it into a new project and put some clips under it and those were blocked out too, meaning the background isn't transparent, its actually just black. How do I get the video to export exactly as it looks in the playback? Or just without a black background?

To elaborate a bit: the white, black or checkerboard options that you can choose in Settings are just how empty areas of the frame are displayed while editing, they are not actually part of the video. If you export in a codec that supports alpha channel, like ProRes 4444, those areas will actually be transparent; in other codecs they will be rendered as black.
