Issue adding Starbucks gift card to child’s apple wallet

I am having an issue adding a card to my child’s Apple Watch. When I go into the watch app, I click on wallet -> add card, and it doesn’t load. I just see the top prompt with no buttons.

what I’ve tried:

updating phone/watch

force restarting phone/watch

charging phone/watch to 100%

please let me know what else to try.

iphone 13 mini/ iOS 16.6.1
