Recording Video Using Desk View and Continuity Camera

I am simply hoping to record a video using the desk view feature of continuity camera. Unfortunately, I can't seem to find a way to do this with Quick time player. As a work around, I suppose I could start a screen recording while just using the desk-view pre-view. Has anyone recorded videos using the desk-view feature? If so, how?
