Messenger stories muted even if silent button is off

Hi, I was just wondering, is it normal for an iPhone 13 (regular version) to have a muted stories messenger?(meaning, I am not able to hear the music of my friend's stories in messenger even if the silent button is off) However, once I press the volume button regardless if up or down, I can suddenly be able to hear the music from the messenger story. Thanks!
