how do i get into old iphone without erasing it?

I want to check an old iPhone for family photos that might not have gotten backed up in the cloud. Can't remember the password. How do I get into it?

iPhone 12 Pro Max, iOS 16

If that's true then Apple should hang their head in shame. What a nasty lame useless POS way to design a consumer product. Sorry but actually not sorry. There's a lot more I could say.

But since you seem to be pretty sure you know the answer, here's another question for you.

The screen is cracked and that may be messing with the digits that get entered. I've tried all three passwords I can think of. Is it possible to get the screen replaced on these old models?

iPhone lacks backdoors, and does not force its users to perform backups, correct.

Apple will know their spare parts stock best for whichever iPhone model this might be. Ask them.

2015 is roughly the era of iPhone 5c, iPhone 5s, iPhone 6, and iPhone 6s. The oldest there are obsolete, and the rest are “vintage” status. Obsolete means no parts for repairs, while vintage means some few parts might be available.
