What happened to the photos I put in an album I created and shared?

I took the pics on my iPhone. I created the shared album. I put them in that shared album. I want to edit some but can’t. They no longer show among “All” photos. It’s as if I didn’t share the album. I am not getting a message to download a pic I want to edit to my library.

Can anyone tell me what is going on? Thanks in advance.

Shared albums are not like other albums. The name "album" is misleading. shared albums are not stored in your iCloud Photos library, by a separate, free iCloud service. when you share a photo to a shared album, a copy of your photo is stored in the shared album. This copy is optimized for sharing (downsized, many metadata stripped). It can no longer be edited. The shared copies in the Shared Albums albums do not show in All Photos. But the original photo should still be in your Photos Library, unless you deleted it after you shared it.

To edit a photo in the shade album you will have to edit the original photo again that you shared. Look for it in the Days, Months, Years. Edit it there, then share it again to the Shared album.
