I had connected by IPad Mini to an external hard disk (SSD) for videos and photos without much issue.
But recently, it is not reading my external hard disk from the iPad. When connected to my MacBook, hard disk is working and files are still there.
Any advise?

Your iPad supports FAT, FAT32, exFAT (FAT64), APFS or HFS+ with a single partition. Microsoft NTFS and other proprietary formats are not supported.
Hard Disk Drives are notoriously power-hungry - and will likely require more power than your iPad's Lightning/USB-C port alone can supply. As such, unless your external HDD has its own source of power, you must either use a powered USB-C hub and/or use an Apple Lightning to USB3 Camera Adapter - to which you must also connect your iPad Power Adapter. The Power Adapter must be rated at least 12W (2.4A @5V) - although a 20-30W Power Adapter is recommended.

I don't want to mess around. Back up my SSD storage to my NAS.
Reformat the hdd to EXFAT.
ANd reinstall all the files back to the SSD.
Hopefully EXFAT is more stable then Mac OS extended format.
I am aware of the power hungry HDD.
Mine is a Samsung T5 SSD external drive.
Formatted Mac OS (extended).
Initially connected to my iPad mini via Belkin USB-C hub. The Power supply (87W) also connected to Belkin via the 100W USB-C input. The setup has working well for at least two weeks.
But today, it just told me that the folders in the drive is empty.
I connected directly to iPad mini. Same issue. Stated the folders and empty.
But when I connected the SSD drive to my Mac OS (Macbook), all the files and folders are there.
Am I missing something?
